Misty Mountain Mornings

While the sun set over Second Beach on the Olympic Peninsula, I started a fire made from a huge piece of driftwood. The fire was hot and comforting as the ocean breeze made the air cooler and cooler. I decided to sleep next to the fire unaware to the approaching storm. Night came and the fire dissolved as rain blanketed the landscape, disrupting what I thought would be a nice and quiet night. I crawled inside my $20 Walmart tent, hoping it would make it through the storm. It didn’t. I was soaked the whole night. Defeated, I began the hike back to my car at dawn. Walking through the aftermath of the storm on that misty mountain morning, I was able to appreciate the new day and new start the rain left.
